TTDF set to be expanded; corpus could rise to Rs 3,000 cr from Rs 500 cr now | Information

In a bid to lift home manufacturing of telecom gear, a key authorities fund geared toward analysis and growth (R&D) within the telecom house could also be expanded within the subsequent few months, officers from the division of telecommunications (DoT) stated.

At present pegged at 5 per cent of the annual collections of the Common Service Obligation Fund (USOF) or about Rs 500 crore, the corpus of the Telecom Know-how Improvement Fund (TTDF) will be expanded to about Rs 3,000 crore, an official stated.

Its mandate may also be widened past rural-specific communications to incorporate R&D for ‘Made in India’ networking and telecom gear.
