A police station in east London has gone up in flames, with close by residents urged to shut their home windows as a result of quantity of thick black smoke.

The roof of the Met Police station on Romford Street in Forest Gate, close to Stratford, caught on hearth earlier this afternoon with London Fireplace Brigade (LFB) being referred to as at 4.17pm.
