Jon Stewart went woke and never looked back.
He said nothing as “sensitivity readers” censored books, forced comedians to hold their tongues and forbid open debates on hot-button issues.
Stewart even apologized for having a mostly white staff at “The Daily Show.” His brief tenure at Apple TV+ flexed his woke bona fides.
Now, he’s demanding fellow progressives not to let go of woke just because their party got smoked on Election Day.
The far-Left host teed off on a Maureen Dowd column blaming the Democrats’ woke views on Kamala Harris’ Election Day defeat. Dowd even echoed the “get woke, go broke” mantra from the Right.
She also gave sober-eyed examples of the disconnect in play.
Democrats learned the hard way in this election that mothers care both about abortion rights and having their daughters compete fairly and safely on the playing field.
That steamed Stewart.
“I have one problem with the woke theory: I just didn’t see any Democrats running on woke s***,” he said. “They didn’t talk about pronouns. They didn’t talk about Latinx. It was the opposite!”
He’s right. And he’s wrong.
Yes, many Democrats pretended to tack to the center during the election cycle. They understood their real views alienated many voters. Except they’ve been going woke for some time now, and putting that genie back in the bottle proved impossible.
And the voters knew it. Tell that to Stewart.
“Democrats were mostly running against an identity that was defined for them based on a couple of months of post George Floyd, defund the police, #MeToo Instagram posts from four years ago,” he said.
It wasn’t just a few months. We’re now learning Harris refused to appear on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” in part, because it would anger elements of her party.
The woke elements, to be exact.

Stewart may be in denial, but he’s got some company.
Fellow far-Left host Seth Meyers also won’t give up the woke fight. He raged against progressive pundits who suggested the party’s woke allegiance cost them at the ballot box.
“When you’re a well-played Democratic consultant or you’re a cable news pundit, it’s much easier to beat up on some fake woke boogie man than do any actual self-reflection. When they’re not busy blaming wokeness, they’re throwing trans people under the bus.”
He’s conflating real concerns about surgically altering children to the trans community in general. It’s the kind of stuff a “clown nose on, clown nose off” host does.
Like this:
“If you’re choosing this moment—if you’re choosing this moment to scapegoat and demonize vulnerable people rather than aim your criticism at the powerful elites and moneyed interests who paved the way for the return of Trump, and stand to benefit from his second term, you’re way off.”
Jimmy Kimmel didn’t address the matter head-on at his ABC showcase. He was too busy holding back tears to comment.

Late-night comedians could have helped Democrats steer clear of the woke iceberg. Yes, we want to be accepting and inclusive, but not when it hurts children or threatens creative freedom.
Stewart and co. can take twisted pride in knowing their inability to warn Democrats is partly why the GOP holds the White House, the Senate and Congress.
