Barry Keoghan is set to play play Ringo Starr in the upcoming quartet of Beatles biopics directed by Sam Mendes — at least, that’s according to to the Fab Four drummer himself.

Starr divulged the casting during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, saying, “I think it’s great. I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”

According to Variety, however, no deals have officially been closed for the upcoming Beatles biopics, which are being made with the band’s full approval and musical rights. Other actors who’ve been linked to the project include Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn, and Paul Mescal.

Produced by Sony Pictures, the four separate films will “tell interconnected stories, one from each band member’s point of view.”

Keoghan recently was part of the ensemble cast in the Apple TV+ series Masters of the Air and made a memorable appearance in Saltburn last year. Up next, he’ll star in Netflix’s Peaky Blinders movie opposite Cillian Murphy and Rebecca Ferguson.

Meanwhile, Starr is returning to country music with his upcoming album, Look Up, produced and co-written by T Bone Burnett. Pre-orders are ongoing ahead of its release on January 10th, 2025.
