Is Apple Martin clapping back at the “mean girl” criticism?

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter seemingly addressed the social media backlash that followed her debut at Paris’ Le Bal des Débutantes last month in a new TikTok video shared by her friend Ava Crox on Monday, December 16.

Per E! News and the Daily Mail, in the since-deleted post, Apple and two friends can be seen mouthing along to a voiceover that says, “I don’t know how anyone has a problem with us, we are such a delight.”

Apple, 20, recently made her high society debut at Le Bal de Débutantes, dancing with her dad at the event, but it was a TikTok video that caused a stir on social media. In a clip shared by French magazine Paris Match, Apple and fellow débutante Aliénor Loppin de Montmort were spotted taking photos, with Apple confidently posing for the camera while standing behind Loppin de Montmort. This prompted a wave of social media backlash, including Apple being branded a “mean girl.”

Speaking to People earlier this month, however, Loppin de Montmort hit back at the claims and instead had nothing but kind words for Apple. “[Apple’s] genuinely the nicest girl ever! She really doesn’t deserve an ounce of what she’s getting,” Loppin de Montmort told the outlet. “She was the nicest girl ever towards not only me but all the debs!”
